Huber was a German/Austrian painter, draughtsman and woodcut artist, who, after
Altdorfer, was the most important member of the Danube school. He worked in Regensburg and Passau. Few paintings by him are known and it is in woodcuts and
drawings that his lyrical approach to landscape can best be seen.
