French painter, draughtsman, and etcher. Few of his paintings survive, but his predilection for scenes from the commedia dell arte was inherited by his pupil Watteau. His work survive mainly in the form of drawings and etchings, and he excelled at designs in the elegant Rococo manner of
Audran.
